Advocates for Youth
Like our site, Advocates for Youth is dedicated to improving the sexual health and awareness of the under-25 crowd. While iwannaknow focuses on the needs and problems of the individual, advocates for youth extends the knowledge to society as a whole. If you are interested in finding out what is being done internationally to promote sexual awareness, or as to how HIV prevention is being taught in the schools stateside, this is the site to visit.

TeenAIDS.org
TeenAIDS is a charitable organization committed to saving teenage lives around the world by providing outreach and resources on HIV/AIDS. They have volunteers in over 80 countries and provide an extensive website for young people on HIV and AIDS. They also broadcast live webcasts of HIV Awareness events throughout the world.

Teen Health Matters
Teen Health Matters, a project of the Howard County (Maryland) Health Department, gives teens the tools they need to manage the stress of everyday life and deal with issues such as relationships, school work, bullying, sexual health, drugs and alcohol, and much more.

Teen Talk
Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s website provides comprehensive sex education information specifically for teens.

ReCAPP is an online resource for educators that provides practical tools and information to reduce sexual risk-taking behaviors.

A website devoted to comprehensive sex education based on the best research we have to date. Students from the University of California, Santa Barbara who have studied advanced topics in human sexuality maintain the site.

Equality Now
Equality Now works to end violence and discrimination against women and girls around the world through the mobilization of public pressure.

Sexual assault and dating violence

RAIIN
The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) is the nation’s largest anti-sexual assault organization. RAINN operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1.800.656.HOPE and the National Sexual Assault Online Hotline.

Loveisrespect.org
A resource for healthy relationships. Peer advocates are available for live online chat and support is available over the phone on the National Teen Dating Abuse Helpline at 1-866-331-9474.

LGBTQ Youth

These sites offer information, resources, as well as open, friendly dialogue on what it’s like to be gay, lesbian or bisexual in today’s youth. They’re a worthwhile visit if you’re straight, gay, or curious.

Youth Guardian Services
Youth Guardian Services features a number of resources for youths who may be attracted to members of the same sex. These resources include e-mailed support lists tailored to specific age groups, and upcoming gay/lesbian-friendly colleges and health care providers.

Coming Out Project (Part of the Human Rights Campaign)
The Coming Out Project helps LGBT, as well as straight-supportive people, live openly and talk about their support for equality at home, at work and in their communities each and every day. Offers FAQs about coming out, guides, and personal stories.

College Guide for LGBTQ Students

The guide offers materials for students transitioning from home to college life. The article covers information on LGBTQ+ statistics, financial aid resources, legal rights, as well as mental health concerns the community may face.

A resource of Rutgers University, Answer is a national organization dedicated to providing and promoting comprehensive sexuality education to young people and the adults who teach them. Answer offers lesson plans, discussion guides, and online professional development.

The Safe Schools Coalition
The Safe Schools Coalition is an international public-private partnership in support of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth, that is working to help schools – at home and all over the world – become safe places where every family can belong, where every educator can teach, and where every child can learn, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation. The Safe Schools Coalition provides handouts and guides for educators.
